the body tune up

What is a Body Tune Up

The human body is very good at adapting to your lifestyle! That's great news, unless you tend to spend large amounts of time sitting. Your body determines that your thigh muscles (quadriceps) are too long and shortens them. Then it determines your tushy muscles (gluteus, etc) are too short and it lengthens them. This often causes a tilt in your pelvis. So you feel like your hip joints are tight and experience low back pain and wonder what's going on.

Here's where we come in. We conduct assessments to determine which muscles are not at the optimal length and which joints have restricted range of motion.  Then we put together a four part program to improve and optimize your movement.

Imagine you're managing a department in a large company. Your department is getting the work done, but not efficiently and problems are starting to arise. You have main players that do a lot of the work, but they need other staff to work with them and also need staff supporting them. You realize these main players are taking on too much and those around them seem to be "out to lunch."

So you know you need to decrease the workload for the main players, but in order to do that you need to retrain them and the rest of your staff. So once you determine who and what is lacking or inefficient, you send them all to individual training depending on their roles. Once they have received their individual training and they are now able to successfully support the main players, who have been retrained to handle only their own responsibilities, they all now receive training on how to most efficiently and effectively work together to get the job done.

This is how we approach the joints and muscles groups in your body. You have agonists, antagonists, synergists, and stabilizer muscles. These muscles working together properly will enhance and restore optimal movement which for you means your body, with regards to movement, will function as good as it can for as long as it can.
